Reiki Training
Lineage, Initiation, and Foundation
Lineage
Reiki is a traceable energy experience that is expressed through the Eastern concept of lineage. Reiki was gifted to Dr. Mikao Usui through his dedicated search and faith and passed down through the line of the Grand Masters: Dr. Usui, Dr. Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, and Reiki Master John Latz.
Lineage is the root of Reiki. Reiki's lineage is a pure, undiluted spiritual vibration passed on from teacher to student. Like links in a chain, we are connected to the people and the energy that went before. This simple, powerful, personal experience is the foundation of Reiki.
We honor and respect the early Reiki Masters whose searching, sacrifice and commitment made Reiki available to us today. You can become part of the living lineage through Initiation by a Reiki Master. As a Reiki practitioner you can experience this vital universal spark of light and use it to heal yourself and others.
Initiation
Since ancient times, Initiation, an experience, ritual, or special time of transformation, has been part of all cultures. Reiki offers this timeless tradition as a connection with the sacredness of life through a direct personal experience of Initiation.
Through Initiation the Reiki teacher imparts an energetic activation and opening for the student. The teacher's own lineage, degree of clarity, and personal integrity is conveyed during this process. In this respect, it is essential that the teacher be a clear channel so that this gift can be passed unadulterated.
A constant in this Reiki Initiation process is the quiet unfolding of our self with our higher purpose. We're never the same afterwards. Many initiates comment that Reiki awakens feelings of inner connectedness, peace, and moments of grace. The Initiation into Reiki enables us to grow, change, and achieve personal balance at our own pace.
Foundation
In the late 1800's, Dr. Mikao Usui, after many challenging years of patient, determined study, rediscovered Reiki within the teachings of the Buddhist Sanskrit Sutras. Dr. Usui then spent the rest of his life teaching this healing gift that was revealed to him.
In the 1920's, Dr. Chujiro Hayashi established a Reiki clinic in Tokyo, Japan, and changed many people's lives through his dedication to this healing art. Dr. Hayashi, a man of insight and wisdom, consciously left his body in 1940. Prior to his death, he passed the gift of Reiki to Hawayo Takata.
Mrs. Takata was Reiki's connection to the West. Her reverence for Reiki helped spread it throughout the U.S. and Canada. Before her death in 1980, she initiated 22 Reiki Masters.
John Latz learned Reiki from one of those Masters in 1981 and today passes on this foundation through Reiki Initiation.
John Latz
John Latz has been teaching Reiki since 1983. He has dedicated himself to maintaining the integrity of Reiki's lineage as well as integrating Reiki in all areas of his life. It was this process which led him to meditation, macrobiotics, and Rolfing, broadening his experiential understanding of balance and integration in the body. His life continues to be enriched by these modalities. In 1992 he founded the Institute for Structural Integration (ISI), where he teaches and continues to master his craft.
John is an extraordinarily gifted teacher who brings integrity, sensitivity, and awareness to his classes. His clarity and the personal balance he exhibits in his own life are emulated by many of his students. He honors his students and their learning experience, always trying to nurture their intuitive development. John generously shares his mastery of Reiki and in return humbly learns from his students.
